19 scriptures on the subject of Babylon explained below.
Armageddon is not the end of the world. It is the end of the way it was, the way it used to conduct itself. From here on Christ will rule. Armageddon is the turning point.
The articles that cover this subject are in the left column.
In the main column are scriptures on the subject from throughout the bible as used in the Toolkit. Where necessary the use of Old Testament scriptures will have an explanation how and why they are applicable to the return of Christ.
Rev 19:11 Behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, called The Word of God. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron.
|
One of the easier questions to answer; right at the very end of the end time when Christ returns with the Saints who have been away for three and a half years. (Rev 12:14) |
Zech 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
|
At the very end. Armageddon is the place where all who want to argue with Christ and refuse His conditions are destroyed. From that moment on the world will settle down to a wonderful peaceful existence guided by Christ and the resurrected Saints. |
Rev 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
|
This is not an easy question to be very specific about. The resurrection occurs at the sixth seal, the Saints are with Christ from that moment on. When precisely the formal ‘wedding’ takes place is not entirely clear. Luckily, once the resurrected and glorious Saints are with Christ, I’m sure it won’t be of enormous concern to them. It will be during the three and a half years on the ‘Sea of Glass’ (a description of God’s throne) before they return with Christ. See article: When Is The Resurrection |
Rev 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
|
Christ returns at the very end of the end time. With Him are the resurrected Saints, the ‘called and chosen’. They return to give the world the final ultimatum at Armageddon. Instead of the final war to decide who will rule the earth that was brewing, all those gathered join forces to fight the ‘Alien’. This in an unforeseen way does become the ‘final’ war which is a bit one sided. The beast and the ten kings still won’t repent; they ‘fight’ Christ and are instantly destroyed. |
Zech 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
|
This is Armageddon. |
Zeph 3:8 For my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
|
Armageddon is the time and place for the ‘final showdown’. All people on earth must make a choice. Israel is gathered (all 12 tribes). The nations that were about to embark on the war that would have finally wiped out mankind had it proceeded are all gathered. These are the remnant of the 200 million that came from Asia across the Euphrates to fight the beast. They join forces with the beast to fight Christ. Rev 19:19 |
Rev 14:18 Another angel came out from the altar, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles.
|
Armageddon is the name commonly associated with this scene at the very end of the end time. Many passages in the bible cover the event. Joel 3:2, 3:13, Jer 25:31, Rev 19:19 |
Rev 11:15-18 The seventh angel sounded; there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ.
|
The seventh trumpet is the last trumpet blast of the seventh seal. It encompasses all the events of Christ’s literal return. The Saints that were resurrected three and a half years before at the sixth seal are with Him. The ‘time of the dead’ to be judged are the spiritually dead (Eph 2:1-5, Col 2:13) i.e. those who refuse to accept Christ are destroyed (Armageddon). The ‘reward’ to Christ’s ‘servants’ is the position they now receive in the kingdom. For example, the twelve disciples are appointed as a king over one of the tribes of Israel. |
Rev 16:17 The seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
|
When the seventh trumpet of the seventh seal is blown, it is ‘all done’. Only then can we reasonably say that ‘all has been fulfilled’. However it also refers to the tragic events of the great tribulation having finally come to an end. Even so, there is still the whole eternal future ahead that the bible speaks very little about, but undoubtedly will be the main subject during the millennium as mankind prepares for the next stage of our existence. |
Haggai 2:6 Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land ; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
|
Armageddon, when Christ returns with the Saints. The ‘shaking’ is both literal and figurative. Figurative in the sense that the world receives a severe ‘wake up call’. Literal in that the huge earthquake mentioned several times is also part of the earth being physically reorganized. Mountains are brought down, new islands arise Rev 16:20. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. This has the effect of changing the world’s weather patterns that are conditional on the few very large mountain ranges of the world. The millennium never has droughts or other natural problems, even the deserts blossom with roses. The stresses in the earth's crust will have been removed leaving no fear of an earthquake. God has thought it all through. In the change of land mass the world’s greatest superpower that was Babylon is changed beyond recognition. It no longer exist as its former self. That solves any problem of wanting to go back as they did after Israel came out of Egypt. Rev 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. See: Who Is Babylon |
Joel 3:13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
|
This is the Rev 14:19 fifth angel and many other scriptures when Christ returns at the very end of the day of the Lord. The answers for all Armageddon questions apply here also. E.G. Q.85, Q. 159, Q. 168, Q. 169 etc. |
Rev 16:20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
|
The world’s geography is changed when Christ returns with the Saints. A more complete answer is given in Q. 198 which is repeated here: Armageddon, when Christ returns with the Saints. The stresses in the earth crust will have been removed leaving no fear of an earthquake.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
|
At Armageddon. This is the end of the beast and has no second chance, neither does the false prophet. Both are cast into the lake of fire. They have both committed the unpardonable sin; they knew what they were doing. Notice however that none of the troops that fought with them are in the lake of fire. They have only suffered the ‘first death’ they still have the possibility of repenting at a future time. The Dan 9:27 mention of the ‘desolator’ (margin translation) receiving his ‘consummation determined’ applies here. |
Isa 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
|
After Christ returns and the (full) kingdom is established. This is also the fulfillment of Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Dan 2:44 |
Jer 25:31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.
|
This is Armageddon. Further detail is the same as Q.199 the answer is repeated here. |
Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. |
When Christ returns with the Saints, i.e. they were resurrected three and a half years before and have been on the ‘Sea of Glass’ for that time (Rev 12:6, Rev 14:1, Rev 15:2). The resurrection itself is not the reward being discussed, it is the being a priest and/or a king forever. Their position is the reward. (Salvation is by grace, but the reward is determined from works done). |
Matt 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. |
When Christ returns with theSaints, i.e. they were resurrected three and a half years before and have been on the ‘Sea of Glass’ for that time (Rev 12:6, Rev 14:1, Rev 15:2). The resurrection itself is not the reward being discussed, it is the being a priest and/or a king forever. Their position is the reward. (Salvation is by grace, but the reward is determined from works done). |
Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. |
This is the beast being broken without hand (refers to no ‘human’ hand). Christ dispatches the beast at Armageddon into the lake of fire. This is also Dan 9:27, the ‘desolator’ (margin translation) receiving his ‘consummation determined’. |
Zech 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. |
When Christ returns, with all the Saints v 5, Armageddon is one event. As well, a huge earthquake occurs that effects the whole world quite radically. Not only Jerusalem is transformed. |
