21 scriptures on the subject of the Gospel explained below.
The Day of the Lord has a very sudden and definitive start. That is made clear by stating that fact sixteen times in the New Testament.
What is that starting event?
The articles that cover this subject are in the left column.
The main column has a range of scriptures on this subject each with a simple question: When does this occur?
They are all part of our 'Toolkit': A complete 'checklist' to ensure every facet of the subject is covered and accounted for.

Rev 14:6 I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.
Q 154. When does the everlasting gospel go to all the earth?
(See Charts and Timelines) |
Revelation 14 is one of the major timelines that gives a chronological order that we can use to map out the order of the end time. First we need to recognize that there are five angels performing duties in this passage. Almost all commentators point to only three. You will see many headings such as "The Three Messengers of Rev 14" in books etc. on this subject.
These are the FIVE activities.
1. The first angel goes to the whole world ( every nation, every kindred, every tongue and every people) i.e. everyone or to put it into Joel's words 'all flesh' which in the Hebrew is a specific term meaning every man woman and child on earth. This angel has the message that Christ is about to take action, and therefore turn to Him immediately.
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Rev 14:6
The Gospel is the first event of the end time.
It is not done in a corner or out of site but 'loudly'. God usually speaks in understatement in the bible. This will be unmistakable.
2. The second angel then (next) announces that Babylon is fallen.
3. Next 'another angel followed', this next angel then warns (after the gospel has gone out, after Babylon falls) not to take the mark of the beast. In this order of events the beast with his 'mark' is not even on the scene until after the other events. This period is very difficult for true Christians.
4. The next angel is ordered to 'reap' a prepared harvest in verse 16. Since there is no condemnation mentioned toward this group we will presume for the time being that this is not a negative response by God since the next angel with the next reaping has plenty of specific detail on the short comings of who is involved. The way this is worded presents a contrast between the two reapings.
5. The fifth angel is ordered to reap his harvest; verse 19. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Q 94. When will the gospel of the kingdom be preached in all the world?
|
This is an answer to the questions from the disciples about when Christ would come (again) and the kingdom be (fully) established. This is another place where it is mentioned that 'first' before anything else takes place the gospel will be preached to all nations. This is consistent with a specific event as recorded in Rev 14 above.
The gospel to all the world is the first event of the end time.
See: The Gospel to All The World |
Q 100. When will the gospel go to all nations?
Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
|

Q 109. When will ‘all flesh’ receive visions and dreams?
Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
|
Acts 2:16 This deserves a full study on its own so we will link you to the article…
the Gospel to all the world
After you have read this article it should be starting to be very clear the gospel going to all the world is a very specific event and it occurs at the very beginning of the overall ' great and dreadful day of the Lord'.
It is the first event of the end time, although most of the world will not take much notice. |
Q 60. When will all flesh ‘everybody’, have a ‘vision’?
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Joel 2:28 This is a tandem verse with Acts 2:16 above. Please use the same link... The Gospel to all the world
OT application to the end time: Three times in this chapter the 'day of the Lord' is mentioned, v1, v11, v31. That is the subject of this chapter. |
Q 68. When will the ‘prophets’ or anyone else ‘know the day and the hour’?
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
|
Amos 3:7 This is one of those statemants by God that transcends time. God will always have His servants acting on His behalf. However the question for us is at what point will we know ( the 'we' being those that are familiar enough with scripture to fulfil the role) categoricaly that the 'day of the Lord' has begun and for a fact it is understood that Christ is going to return. If we are dealing with 'catagorically' then in that framework the bible states at least sixteen times that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. It comes as the destruction on Sodom and Gomoroah, Lot had to flee with hardly a moments notice. With the example of the flood, one day it was normal, the next the rains took them away. In Luke it says like a snare, a trap that snaps shut it shall happen. Everything points to one particular very distinct moment when Christ and the Father decides time is up and the End Time has begun. Paul says in I Thess 5:2 we should have a perfect understanding about this event. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
That comes only with a good amount of study.
After reading the articles for the gospel going to all the world, it should be clear that this is the event which will be the unmistakable start. From that very moment those ready and expecting this very strange event will be able to cry out 'the LORD cometh' with absolute certainty.
OT application to the end time: Verse 24 puts the context of this prophecy in a time resulting in ‘everlasting righteousness’ a time where ‘all transgression’ will be finished in Jerusalem. It is possible to produce a line of reasoning (Preterist) that explains this was all fulfilled in AD 70. That would require that Jerusalem would never be a special place to God again since ‘all’ was fulfilled at that time. There are far too many other prophetical verses that contradict such a possibility.
|
1 Thess 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Q 115. When will the definitive event occur that the brethren recognize as the end time starting?
|
I Thess 5:4 See above for explanation. When the gospel goes to all the world in an inexplicable way to 'all flesh' via 'dreams and vision'.
There are two parts to this question and two sides to this coin. Spiritually it is obvious that a person should be in a fit state. However Paul says we should also have a 'perfect understanding' about 'that day' (I Thess 5:2 see above).
Paul however is refering to something else as well. He is referring to the 'sudden destruction that comes on those that say 'peace and safety'. For the full details on that subject go to... Peace and safety

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Q 48. When is the covenant confirmed with many?
|
Dan 9:27 Most people would recognise this event as occurring at the beginning of the end time. There is a lot of debate on this subject but facts are what we need and that is going to take a step by step process to unravel.
Timing is the element that sorts it all out.
The issue needed to be beyond dispute is who the 'he' is that makes the covenant. It is iether the character known as the beast or it is Christ. Opinion, if based purely from the Hebrew would back up that this is Christ who makes the covenant. On the other hand those that judge with a preconceived idea that this is about a deal made between the beast and the Jews in Jerusalem will favour the 'he' being the beast.
The question is when is this agreement made. That is clear, at the very beginning of a seven year period. At that point in time, the very beginning of the end time, the beast is not even in existence. So it can't be him with a little 'h'.

Rev 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
Q 121. When does the rider on the white horse with a bow ‘appear’? |
This is the first seal in Rev 6. Since Rev 6 is the most straightforward chronological timeline it is assumed and accepted that is the first event of the end time. However very little information is given as to who and what this rider is. However Habakkuk does provide a perfect match.
Christ is described in v6 and in the following verses He has a bow in His hand. It should be obvious this is the return of Christ. Compare the Habakkuk verses with Revelation.
He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting. Hab 3:6
Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. 10 The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high. 11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear. 12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed. Hab 3:9
Christ’s bow was made naked, i.e. it is now brought out of its protective case for action. His promises to all twelve tribes will now be honored and salvation for all His people will be delivered. He is riding a horse (v 8) and He is about to go through the land in indignation, those that oppose Him will be dealt with in anger.
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Rev 6:2
After sufficient time has elapsed for man to discover he ‘cannot do it by himself’ Christ will rescue us from ourselves and show us how it should have been done. Only those willing to follow Christ will make it through to the millennium. |
Hab 3:9 Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. … The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
Q 79. When was the ‘bow’ made naked (brought out of its sheath) according to the Word and the oaths to the tribes? |
This verse is the answer to the Rev 6:2 enigma concerning who the rider on the white horse is. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Rev 6:2
It is the very first event of the end time, the first seal of Revelation. The outcome of the first event is that a warning goes throughout the whole earth to warn that Christ has taken control. That is the gospel going to all the world:
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Rev 14:6
OT application to end time: The context carries over from chapter 2:3 ‘the vision is for an appointed time, at the end it shall speak’. This book was not primarily for those times. |
Zech 2:13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
Q 197. When does the Lord rise up out of His habitation and take direct control of world affairs? |
Once Christ is ‘raised up out of His holy habitation’ you could say the sleeping giant has wakened and is now on the roam. Watch out. This is the first seal of Rev 6, the very first event of the end time. This Zechariah verse is a companion to Hab 3:6 which in turn is connected to Rev 6:2
He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting. 7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. 8 Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation? 9 Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. 13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked… Hab 3:6
OT application to end time: In Zech 2:10 ‘many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, when He comes to dwell in the midst of (us)’. Still future. |
2 Thess 2:11 Because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved … for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.
Q 194. When will the lie that causes this strong delusion come into effect? |
The opening words for the context of this subject are: ‘by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and by our gathering together unto Him’. Paul in 1 Thess 5:2 had explained that the coming of the day of the Lord would be as a thief in the night, a complete surprise. From this we can tell the ‘day of the Lord’ starts at day one of the end time, but the resurrection is a later event that will be evident beforehand after clear indications. The context overall therefore would indicate that between the start of the day of the Lord and the resurrection itself the great falling away would have happened. Something caused that to happen. All that can be surmised from all the scriptures is that many had expected an equivalent of ‘peace and safety’ at the start of this period. When the ‘peace and safety’ did not occur as they had envisioned, many lost heart and their faith in following Christ. They had believed a lie and ‘not the love of the truth’.
This will all take effect from when Babylon falls, which was a complete shock to everyone, except those who did have ‘belief of the truth’. The truth in this case being the entirety of the bible and not a few selected passages that suited their own ‘tradition’.

2 Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.
Q 116. When will the falling away occur and the man of sin be revealed? |
All that can be surmised from all the scriptures is that many Christians had expected an equivalent of ‘peace and safety’ once the day of the Lord had started. When the ‘peace and safety’ did not occur as they had envisioned, many lost heart and their faith in following Christ. They had believed a lie and ‘not the love of the truth’. Nowhere in the bible is the life of a true Christian easy. “If they hated Me, they will hate you also’.
This will all take effect from when Babylon falls, which was a complete shock to everyone, except those who did have ‘belief of the truth’. The truth in this case being the entirety of the bible and not a few selected passages that suited their own ‘theology’. The minute Babylon falls, the beast will be on his way into the world scene. |
Matt 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Q 90. When will many come saying Jesus is the Christ but deceive many with the rest of what they say? |
When the gospel goes to the entire world in the most unusual and astonishing way it will nonetheless be obvious that Christ is on His way and the day of the Lord has officially started. A great number of people will ‘jump on the bandwagon’ saying that Christ is coming but the details they then add to that fact will not be correct. I.E. ‘Christ will be in our rooms’, ‘He will be with us in the desert’ in other words: He is coming, but only to our group. Do not follow them Christ says.

See: The Gospel Goes To The Whole World |
Luke 21:8 Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
Q 104. When will they say Jesus is the Christ and He is coming now? (‘The time’ in original Greek: is the equivalent of a capital The [no capitals in Gk]). |
When the gospel goes to the entire world in the most unusual and astonishing way it will nonetheless be obvious that Christ is on His way and the day of the Lord has officially started. A great number of people will ‘jump on the bandwagon’ saying that Christ is coming. In the Luke passage the emphasis is placed on the words ‘the time’ which in English would be the with a capital The. This denotes that it is specifically the time that Christ is arriving. However, the details they then add to that fact will not be correct. I.E. ‘Christ will be in our rooms’, ‘He will be with us in the desert’ in other words: He is coming, but only to our group. Do not follow them Christ says.

Jer 6:14, 15 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace, at the time I visit them.
Q 12. When will they say ‘peace, peace’ when there is no peace? |
When the gospel goes to the entire world many Christians will rejoice thinking their problems are all over once the knowledge Christ is returning very soon. That is not ‘par for the coarse’ according to the bible. Now is the time Christians have to stand up for their belief. That will be very painful and distressing in a world that by default worships Satan; the ‘god’ of this world.
When they say ‘peace and safety’ sudden destruction comes on them. It happens at the very beginning of the end time.
OT application for the end time: there is nothing very specific in this chapter of Jeremiah to indicate it refers to the end time. However if you know what you are looking for there are lots of clues. Where it refers to ‘the time I visit them’ v6 and v15 this usually is the ‘day of visitation for Israel’ the end time. In v 18 and 19 the whole world is told to take notice of what God is about to do. A little earlier in 3:18, still within the overall context of this passage we do have a specific end time verse.
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. 19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
Remember that the separate nation of Israel had been conquered and taken away captive never to be heard of again some 120 years before the nation of Judah was defeated. Although Judah had not been defeated at this point in time Jeremiah was writing, Israel had long since gone (see 7:15). Any reference to Israel and Judah both coming together and obeying God has never happened and will not until Christ returns and gathers them. That is the new covenant. Heb 8.
See: When They Say Peace And Safety Who Is Israel |
Matt 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Q 88. When will there be a mass denial of Christ (a falling away)? |
88 When the gospel goes to the entire world many Christians will rejoice thinking their problems are all over once the knowledge Christ is returning very soon.
Jer 6:17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying , Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
Q 13. When will this warning be given and rejected? |
Immediately the gospel goes to the entire world, the true Saints will know that Babylon is to fall within a few months. The warning is that war and defeat will come on them (should they not repent as a nation and seek God) and not ‘peace and safety’. NB. The world is told to watch what is going to happen because they have rejected God’s law (therefore must be a Christian nation). This is consistent with the sudden destruction of Babylon and the world being shocked.

See: When They Say Peace And Safety Who Is Israel |
Hos 5:9 Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.
Q 56. When will the warning to Ephraim and Israel be given? |
In the previous verses 5 to 7 God says that Israel, Ephraim and Judah will fall all within one month of each other. This is another way of saying the ‘house of Joseph’ and the ‘house of Judah’ will fall. That makes this a very specific end time section since they never fell together in the Old Testament but fell 120 years apart from each other.
OT application to end time: as above, this is a complex ‘technical’ piece of scripture that is important to understand. Christ paid particular attention to some similar scriptures; (The Lord said to My Lord… Mat 22:21) to make certain points. He said ‘the scripture cannot be broken’. John 10:35
The warning referred to here takes place as soon as the gospel goes to the entire world. The prime job of the Saints then is to warn them what is about to happen.
See: Who Is Babylon Who Is Israel |
Ezek 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman' hand. 7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
Q 39. When must the watchmen deliver the warning to all Israel? |
God says that Israel, Ephraim and Judah will fall all within one month of each other Hos 5:5,7. This is another way of saying the ‘house of Joseph’ and the ‘house of Judah’ will fall. That makes this a very specific end time section since they never fell together in the Old Testament but fell 120 years apart from each other.
The warning referred to here takes place as soon as the gospel goes to the entire world. The prime job of the Saints then is to warn them what is about to happen.
OT application to end time: The last few verses of this chapter refer to a time when Israel are gathered again to the promised land and are sanctified in the site of many nations and God has poured out His spirit upon the (whole) house of Israel. This has not happened yet.
See: Who Is Babylon Who Is Israel |
Joel 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand.
Q 59. When will the alarm be sounded and the trumpet blown? |
The warning referred to here takes place as soon as the gospel goes to the entire world. The prime job of the Saints then is to warn them what is about to happen.
OT application to the end time: There are many references to the day of the Lord in this chapter. |
