What is the day of the Lord?
The day of the Lord and similar expressions are all through the bible. Every one of those verses and a lot of food for thought is in our article The Day Of The Lord

The Tribulation

38 scriptures on the subject of the Tribulation are explained below.

The Great Tribulation is the worst time the world will ever face. Christ said that should He not intervene to stop it ‘no flesh would be saved’ (alive). Satan would have succeeded in his plan for man to wipe himself out. However it does not go that far before Christ returns with the Saints at Armageddon.
For our purpose in understanding the end time, by far the most important factor is understanding the difference between the ‘tribulation of those days’ and the ‘great tribulation'. They are not the same thing.

The articles that cover this are in the left column.

The main column has a range of scriptures on this subject each with a simple question: When does this occur?
They are all part of our 'Toolkit'. A checklist to make sure we have the subject completely covered.

This subject from the Toolkit is divided into three sections. You can click to jump straight there.

 1)The Tribulation of those Days                   Q no: 98 – 126
2)   The Great Tribulation                                 Q no 96 – 187
3)   The Seventh Seal Trumpets and Vials        Q no  130 – 137

Matt 24:29    Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, the moon shall not give her light, the stars fall from heaven, the powers of the heavens be shaken: then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: all the tribes of the earth mourn, they see the Son of man coming with power and great glory.
Q 98.  When will ‘the tribulation of those’ days end?

The ‘Tribulation of those days’ is a critical piece of the jigsaw. It is not the great tribulation.
The ‘tribulation of those days’ ends at the sixth seal, just before the seventh seal begins which is the great tribulation.

See article: The SixthSeal and the Charts page for more information.
 Day Of The Lord

Rev 6:15  The kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the chief captains, the mighty men, every bondman, every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
Q 127.  When do they say to the rocks ‘fall on us’?

This is a description of the sixth seal. A comparison of these same events in Matt 24:29  makes it impossible for these unique situations that include the entire earths population seeing Christ on His throne and being terrified, in both accounts, not to be the same.
The sixth seal occurs in the ‘midst of the week’ three and a half years into the end time.

See article: The sixth seal

The  Charts  page will also be helpful to 'see' when the great tribulation occurs.

Mark 13:24  But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Q 103.  When is the ‘that tribulation’?

This is referring to the same event in Matt 24:29 but called ‘the tribulation of those days’ in that account. The description of what follows is the sixth seal see Rev 6:12. The sixth seal is the midway point, three and a half years into the end time.

Joel 2:30  And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
Q 61.  When will the appearance of the sun and moon be changed?

OT application to the end time: This Joel verse takes place just ‘before the great and the terrible day of the Lord comes’. So it is firmly in the end time. The description is the same as the sixth seal, Rev 6:12 and Matt 24:29.
The sixth seal is the midway point in the end time, three and a half years along.
Joel 2:28 technically is a new chapter as any Hebrew bible will show. This is quite important.
For a full explanation for the above read the article The Gospel Goes To All The World

Isa 2:19  And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Q 4. When will they hide in the rocks at the sight of the Lord?

This is one of the many OT mentions of the sixth seal in Rev 6:12:

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.  14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the LambRev 6:12

Why is it mentioned so many times? The ‘everlasting gospel’ (Rev 14:6) the ‘gospel of the kingdom of God’ that Christ taught was not the traditional ‘gospel’ message about Himself we hear today. The disciples were horrified to hear that Christ might die. That was new to them. What Christ had been talking about was the time when this world would be ruled directly by Christ literally the Kingdom of God with Christ as the King here on earth. The twelve disciples would also rule with Him each as a king over one of the tribes of Israel. (Matt 19:28, Luke 22:30, Acts 26:70.
The whole bible (the everlasting gospel) is about Christ coming to rule, (therefore ‘what manner of person ought we to be’ 2 Peter 3:11) and this passage is one of the moments being graphically described.
The transition period of handing over government to Christ and the reluctance of the world to accept that change is the whole end time in a nutshell.
OT application of this verse to end time: For the context a few verses earlier we have an obvious end time setting:
And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.  3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.   Isa 2:2

Hos 10:8  The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
Q 58.  When will they say to the mountains and hills ‘fall on us’?

Another reference to the sixth seal of Rev 6:12. When Christ gathers the Saints, there are spectacular ‘signs’ in the heavens; Christ appearing on his throne, the world is absolutely terrified.
The answer to Q.4 is partly repeated here:
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.  14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.  Rev 6:12

The transition period of handing over government to Christ and the reluctance of the world to accept that change is the whole end time in a nutshell.
OT application of this verse to end time: The book of Hosea needs to be taken as a whole. It is describing Israel and Judah (as two separate nations and within that context Israel is further divided into more sub groups of nations) going into captivity but ultimately coming back under Christ’s wing. The specific detail that places this whole book with an end time application is found in the fifth chapter. Here all three of the larger nations of Israel are together at the same time described as falling within one month of each other. This is impossible to fit in an OT framework since the fall of Israel (never to be heard of again in history) was at least 120 years apart from Judah’s fall and first captivity. The fall of the nation of Ephraim, the nation of Israel and the nation of Judah together with the re-gathering of all three can only have an end time fulfillment to accurately comply with all the scriptures of which there are a great many.
And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them. 6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them. 7 They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.
Hos 5:5

Matt 24:6  And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
Q 91.  When will nation rise up against nation, kingdom against kingdom?

Once Babylon has fallen, the first of the ‘physical’ end time events, the world’s economy collapses. By collapse we mean utterly collapse. All means of international exchange to buy grain and other day-to-day commodities fail. With the collapse of the world’s currency many nations are technically bankrupt. In this situation the means of last resort come into play. ‘Peace is taken from the earth’ Rev 2:4. World war breaks out very early in the end time ‘but the end is not yet’. There are approximately six and a half years of the end time left.

Rev 6:7  The fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, And I looked, behold a pale horse: his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. Power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Q 124.  At what point does war, disease and hunger claim a quarter of the world’s population?

The second seal is where world war starts. By the time we get to the fourth seal, war and the subsequent side effects, disease and starvation have caused a quarter of the world’s population to perish. Almost 2 billion people, much worse is yet to come. It needs to be pointed out there is only one way to survive through the end time and that is to turn to Christ. Without His help the chances are very slim. This is the whole point of the end time. The world can do things its own way or it can do it Christ’s way. Only one way will work this time. The fourth seal is well before the midway point of the overall end time so a reasonable point at which the fourth seal occurs would be two years into the end time, five years left.

Matt 24:7  And there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Q 92  When will the famines and diseases occur in various places?

This passage of scripture correlates to the fourth seal in Rev 6:7. The world’s economy has collapsed with the fall of Babylon, the richest and most powerful nation in the world. Without the normal means of trade due to all banks and stock markets being on hold and the general disruption in the aftermath, war breaks out as the nations get desperate with no solution in site.

Rev 6:5  The third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. I beheld, lo a black horse; he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny.
Q 123.  When will food be so scarce a loaf of bread is a full days wages?

The second seal is where world war starts. By the time we get to the fourth seal, war and the subsequent side effects, disease and starvation have caused a quarter of the world’s population to perish. Almost 2 billion people, much worse is yet to come. It needs to be pointed out there is only one way to survive through the end time and that is to turn to Christ. Without His help the chances are very slim. This is the whole point of the end time. The world can do things its own way or it can do it Christ’s way. Only one way will work this time. The third seal is where the food shortages really take effect. This is well before the midway point of the overall end time so a reasonable point at which the third seal occurs would be between one and two years after the start of the end time.

Rev 6:3  The second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another.
Q 122.  When is peace taken from the earth? (World war begins).

The second seal is a direct result of the first ‘physical’ event of the end time which is the fall of the worlds richest and  most powerful military nation called Babylon. The world was merrily continuing on trading as normal in day-to-day goods: shampoos, perfumes, jewelry, nutmeg for our rice puddings, in short all the ‘goodly and dainty’ things we enjoy. Rev 18:12-14
This all suddenly ended with  its spectacular demise that utterly stunned the rest of the world.
This is a long way from being in the end time where life itself is a real struggle each day just to survive.
After Babylon fell the means to procure food or any necessity virtually became impossible such was the impact on the world economy. The only means to get what you need from here on is by force. World war breaks out. This would start within the first year of the end time, six more years of the end time left.  See: Who is Babylon   When Does Babylon Fall

Rev 19:17 Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
Q 188.  When do those that resist Christ become a feast for all the fowls of the air?

A quick check with Rev 6:12 shows this set of circumstances as being identical to the sixth seal. That the whole world sees Christ appear on His throne is just one of the common denominators for not only these two scriptures but also many more throughout the bible.
This occurs midway through the end time at the three and a half year mark.
See: The Sixth Seal

Rev 6:12   The sixth seal, a great earthquake; the sun became black as sackcloth, the moon became as blood; the stars of heaven fell unto earth, And the heaven departed as a scroll; every mountain and island were moved. The kings, great men, rich men, mighty men, every bondman, every free man, hid themselves in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the rocks, Fall on us, hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
Q 126.  When will the whole world see Christ on His throne?

The sixth seal occurs when the ‘abomination of desolation spoken by Daniel’ takes place. This we can work out from the identical set of circumstances that show Matt 24:29 is the same event.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.   Matt 24:29
In Matt 24 the resurrection also occurs at this time v31. The resurrection takes place three and a half years before ‘Armageddon’ when Christ returns with the Saints. Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
The great tribulation takes place during these three and a half years that is the seventh seal.
See:  When is The Resurrection   The Sixth Seal

Matt 24:21  For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Q 96  When will the great tribulation begin?

The great Tribulation begins when the beast commits the abomination of desolation in Jerusalem.
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) ….21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.  Matt 24:15
The Daniel verse gives us the timeframe: And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.  Dan 12:11. From the time that the abomination is committed until (the ‘end’) Christ returns will be three and a half years. In this verse an extra thirty days are given. This could be as a result of an intercalated year when to adjust for the difference in solar and lunar orbits, all calendar systems need to make adjustments. The biblical calendar adds an extra month every few years to stay in sync. Elsewhere as in Rev 13:5 the beast is allowed to ‘continue forty two months’.
These last three and a half years are the seventh seal. The sixth seal was ‘immediately after the tribulation of those days’. It is imperative to see the distinction between these two references to tribulations. The ‘tribulation of those days’ refers to the first five seals.
OT application to the end time: The angel giving this message to Daniel explains that the message is for the far distant future, ‘the time of the end’ in Dan 12:9.

Dan 12:1  And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time.
Q 52.  When will the worst time ever (the great tribulation) begin?

The period called the ‘tribulation’ is a little more involved than at first thought. There is a distinct division between the ‘tribulation of those days’ and ‘the great tribulation. The importance of getting this clear is the issue of timing. Without having an accurate ‘fix’ on the timing there is no way of unravelling the correct sequence of the end time. Without that correct sequence we have no means of arriving at a clear picture of the whole.
The end time is seven years. The first half of the ‘week’, the first six seals are the ‘tribulation of those days’. When Christ said ‘immediately after the tribulation of those days’ He was referring to the first five seals. The sixth seal is the subject He was bringing our attention to, which included the resurrection at the sixth seal. Following that, the seventh seal lasting for three and a half years is the great tribulation. This is the last half of the Daniel ‘week’. The beast ‘continues’ for forty-two months. For detailed explanations on these issues that need to be studied very carefully, the following articles are provided.
The Sixth Seal     When is The Resurrection      The Tribulation of Those Days

OT application to end time: The resurrection is mentioned in this verse and the ‘time of the end’ is quoted again in v 4.
There can only be one ‘worst time ever’. As time goes by the scale of tragedies from war get ever bigger. The end time sees figures that are almost unimaginable, yet the greatest hope and future for man lies beyond ‘this worst time’. It all simply comes down to man trying to ‘do it his way’ and not the intended way of our Creator. Since God has no desire in producing robots, the choice has to be ours. Once we have seen the end result of our ‘choice’ then the real and genuine and permanent shift in our thinking will occur. Then the kingdom will be here.

Mark 13:19  For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
Q 102.  When will the great tribulation start?

The answer is the same as for Q 52 so is repeated here: The period called the ‘tribulation’ is a little more involved than at first thought. There is a distinct division between the ‘tribulation of those days’ and ‘the great tribulation. The importance of getting this clear is the issue of timing. Without having an accurate ‘fix’ on the timing there is no way of unravelling the correct sequence of the end time. Rev 3:10  Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Q 120.  When does the hour of temptation that comes on the earth begin?

This is a promise for certain Church members, those that in Christ’s opinion have done all that He requires (‘patience’ here means putting up with an ‘overcoming’ the trials and tribulations of the time) to be spared the hour of (trial) that comes on the whole earth.
The Church in Rev 12:14 is taken away for three and a half years from the serpent, Satan, who has been cast down to earth. This is the resurrection taking place at the sixth seal. The world now endures the great tribulation for the next three and a half years.

Isa 26:20  Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
Q 6. When are His people ‘hid from the indignation for a little while’?

This is the same answer for Q 120 so is repeated here. However, the ‘chambers’ the Saints enter would be the ‘mansions’ in John 14:2 The sixth seal in Rev 6:12 and again in Matt 24:29 and many other places describe the shock and fear when they see what Christ really looks like. Accompanied by ‘the stars falling from heaven’ and other extreme circumstances, for all those that did not know what to expect it will be a terrifying time. See  The Sixth Seal
OT application to the end time: The timing and context of this verse is the ‘the last days when all nations shall flow unto the Lords house v 2. That has not happened yet. V 12 says it is the day of the Lord.

Isa 2:10  Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
Q 3. When will every one hide in the rocks for fear of the Lord?

The sixth seal in Rev 6:12 and again in Matt 24:29 and many other places describe the shock and fear when they see what Christ really looks like.

Rev 8:1  When he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
Q 129 When is the silence for ‘about half an hour’?

At the sixth seal the resurrection occurs. The seventh seal goes ‘on hold’ for a short while. Is this a reflection on the appalling events about to unfold or is it because those on the ‘sea of glass’ have other things on their mind? It is not clear exactly when the ‘wedding’ takes place but it is between the resurrection and the return of Christ with the Saints in three and a half years time. In Revelation 10 the seventh angel (the one in charge of the other seven trumpet angels that make up the seventh seal) is waiting until the ‘mystery of God should be finished’.
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. Rev 10:7
In Ephesians 5 we have the mystery defined as a ‘wedding’ between Christ and the Church.
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.  Eph 5:32
This looks as if the wedding is taking place before the seventh seal gets underway.

Rev 10:1-9  I saw mighty angel.. he had in his hand a little book open .. when the seven thunders had uttered their voices .. there should be time no longer .. in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished .. Give me the little book .. Take it, and eat it up .. in my mouth sweet .. in my belly bitter.
Q 138.  When does the mighty angel of the seventh seal (in charge of the other seven trumpet angels) begin to sound?

The seventh seal is the great tribulation, the last three and a half years. This seal is made up of seven subdivisions that are also seven angels each blowing a trumpet. The angel in charge of the seven gives the order to begin ‘when the mystery of God is finished’. That would appear to be an allusion to Eph 5:32 where marriage is being discussed as the ‘mystery’: This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. The wedding on the ‘sea of glass’?

Luke 21:20  And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Q 106.  When will the troops surround Jerusalem?

Jerusalem will be ‘surrounded’ twice in the end time (at least). This is part of the critical information needed to have a clear understanding of the end time. The first physical event of the end time is the fall of Babylon. If you are not aware of who that is then the articles  Who is Babylon and  When Does Babylon Fall  are essential reading.

To continue this article See:  Jerusalem Surrounded

Luke 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
Q 187  When did these people embark on becoming pregnant?

NB. This subject has not been adequately studied or explained before.

Asking such a question might seem totally irrelevant. However knowing the answer demonstrates how well you do or do not have a good understanding of the end time. Why the question ‘when did they get pregnant’? At the point in time this verse is relevant the invasion of the Middle East by the beast is underway. The end time has been in progress for three and a half years. During this time the beast has become more than obvious. The world has been through terrible wars with a quarter of the world’s population dying; starvation and disease are rampant everywhere and conditions are about as bad as they can get. Amidst all this for the duration of the first three and a half years the Saints have been warning and explaining all that was needed to know why all this was happening. Nothing is a secret and the great tribulation is next. Why, with a big question mark would you knowingly get pregnant in these circumstances?  See: Pray Your Flight Is Not in Winter  This article is coupled with 'Jerusalem surrounded' as the two articles are interwoven in their detail.

Rev 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
Q 130.  When do the trees and grass suffer damage? (The first trumpet of the seventh seal).

In the beginning of the last three and a half years

Rev 16:2  And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
Q 162.  When will those that did take the mark of the beast receive a grievous sore?

During the earlier half of the last three and a half years. The vials equate with the trumpets in six of the seven instances. They must end at the same point, when Christ returns. This vial is the first one. The two witnesses are described as being able to do many of the attributes of the vials i.e. turn rives to blood etc

Rev 15:5   The temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles … gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God.
Q 161.  When is the tabernacle in heaven opened and the seven angels with the vials released?

The short answer I will give is the very beginning of the last three and a half years. The reason is most of the vials and trumpets have the same characteristics and they must all end at the same time – at the ‘end’ when Christ returns. Example: Obviously the seventh vial is the end, the seventh trumpet is described as the end. The sixth trumpet and vial are both to do with coming across the Euphrates River. The fifth trumpet and vial have severe pain for the followers of the beast like a ‘scorpion sting’. The fourth trumpet and vial are to do with light. The third trumpet and vial are to do with fresh water. The second of each are to do with the oceans. It is only the first of each that are hard to match.

Rev 16:3  And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
Q 163.  When will the sea become severely affected?

The sea is affected early on in the great tribulation; years before Christ comes at Armageddon. This is a vital clue to who Babylon is. Since they and the whole world are trading normally without any concerns when Babylon suddenly ‘in one hour’ falls, Babylon must have fallen before this catastrophe on the oceans and ships. Babylon cannot be the beast since the beast is still there at the very end.

Rev 8:8  And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood. And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
Q 131.  When does a third of the sea appear as blood and both shipping and sea life are destroyed?

This is only the second trumpet of the last three and a half years, so it is fairly early in the proceedings.

Rev 16:4 The third angel poured his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
Q 164. When does the fresh water become severely affected?

Both the third trumpet and vial are concerned with fresh water. The third trumpet should be getting near halfway through the last three and a half years.

Rev 8:10  The third angel sounded, there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star Wormwood: the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters.
Q 132.  When does the fresh water become effected?

Both the third trumpet and vial are concerned with fresh water. The third trumpet should be getting near halfway through the last three and a half years.

Rev 16:8  The fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
Q 165.  When does this plague involving the sun occur?

The fourth trumpet and vial are connected to sun and light, it is over halfway through the last years of the great tribulation.

Rev 8:12  The fourth angel sounded, the third part of the sun was smitten, the third part of the moon, the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, the night likewise.
Q 133.  When is the visibility in the atmosphere effected?

The fourth trumpet and vial are connected to sun and light, it is over halfway through the last years of the great tribulation.

Rev 8:13  And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
Q 134.  When do the three woes begin?

The ‘three woes’ are the last three trumpets of the great tribulation. This time is significant because it accounts for the worst single ‘bloodbath’ in earth’s history, ‘one third of man’ were killed and later Armageddon itself will occur.

Rev 16:10  The fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and sores, and repented not.
Q 166.  When do the followers of the beast suffer ‘stinging’ pain?

The fifth trumpet and vial deal with severe pain suffered by followers of the beast. Life is barely livable for them. This is a very stark difference to life just before the fall of Babylon who were enjoying ‘all goodly and dainty things’ and music concerts etc. right up to the minute of their sudden destruction. Babylon is not the beast. This event is close to the end.

Rev 9:1-12  The fifth angel sounded .. And he opened the bottomless pit .. tormented five months .. the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle .. they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.. they had a king over them, whose name is Abaddon.
Q 135.  When does this sinister event occur, also called the first woe?

The fifth trumpet and vial deal with severe pain suffered by followers of the beast. Life is barely livable for them. This is a very stark difference to life just before the fall of Babylon who were enjoying ‘all goodly and dainty things’ and music concerts etc. right up to the minute of their sudden destruction. Babylon is not the beast. This event is close to the end.

Rev 16:12  The sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared… to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Q 167.  When is the Euphrates dried up so the nations of the earth can mobilize for the final battle at Armageddon?

Both the sixth trumpet and vial are about the two hundred million troops coming from Asia
(North and East of Jerusalem Dan 11:44 , from the ‘other’ side of the Euphrates). The purpose is twofold. Christ is gathering the nations to Armageddon where He will ‘plead’ with the nations, giving them their last chance to accept His terms. Along the way the Asian bloc are fighting the European beast empire. The result is one third of mankind die; that is more than two thousand million people. This is very near to the end. If this scale of warfare were not stopped, no man would survive.

Rev 9:13-18  The sixth angel sounded .. Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates .. I saw the horses in the vision, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed.
Q 136.  When does this war (the second woe) involving people from across the Euphrates kill one third of mankind?

This is almost the end. Christ has summonsed the nations for the final chance at Armageddon.

Rev 9:20  The rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold. Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Q 137.  At what point in the end time are people still not repenting? The seventh seal, sixth trumpet, second woe.

It almost defies belief, yet after the wars the sightings of Christ at the sixth seal, the years of the two witnesses giving their powerful witness, the bulk of the world still refuses to believe the obvious. Right at the very end almost with Armageddon on the doorstep people still want to be ‘free’ from the laws of God. They would prefer to die than do what God says, so be it.
