1  The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.  Rev 8:7

1   And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.  Rev 16:2

1st Trump/vial Comments:

A first glance there does not appear to be a connection between these two.
However, all the trumps/vials have a specific destination where they are ‘poured’. In this first pair the destination is the same. In this case the entire ‘earth’.
With the trumpet, only a third of the trees are affected. This ‘third’ rule will become a noticeable pattern for the trumpets whereas the affect of the vials is either total or more intense. This shift in degree of intensity is noticeable here where the trumpet makes life very difficult with shortages of grains (wheat and rice) and grass for animal feed – and no more. The vial is more intense in that it personally affects each individual ‘grievously’ that follows the beast.

Note: In the vial section we can see how they are specifically applied to the beast and his followers. Since the difference in effect is tangible, it demonstrates different regions are being singled out. This raises another issue; this is not, for example, a random indiscriminate meteorite striking earth. All actions under very tight control with particular individuals targeted.

‘Planet X’ and 2012 Mayan Calendar style ‘End of World’ scenarios should be quickly discarded.

The Day of the Lord is certainly not the end of the world.

2   And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.   Rev 8:8

2   And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.  Rev 16:3

2nd Trump/vial Comments:

Here we have a definite connection. The oceans (salt water) are the object of both trumpet and vial. However the trumpet is far less severe affecting only one third of shipping and sea life compared to the vial where the devastation is total.

3   And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.  Rev 8:10

3   And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. 7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.   Rev 16:4

3rd Trump/vial Comments:

Both have a definite connection again. The proceedings affect fresh water.
Again, in the trumpet case the severity is diminished to only one third of the water being affected.
In the vial it should be noted that the people on the receiving end are those that have persecuted and killed God’s true followers. This would again indicate that the beast and his supporters are involved. There is no mention of only one third of them being given ‘blood to drink’, ‘thou hast given them’ inclusive suggest all of them. A more severe outcome from the outpouring of the vial is assumed since the severity needs to be justified:  Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

4   And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. 13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!   Rev 8:12

4th Trump/vial Comments:

The connection is the sun ‘being smitten’. The end result is not the same. Again, the trumpet results in a far more diminished affect; only one third of light being withheld. The effect coming from the vial is far more intense. It ‘scorches’ the recipients. The response is typical of what would be expected from the followers of the beast. It is specifically the followers of the beast that ‘blaspheme the name of God’ (See the 5th vial). Non Christian nations would not blaspheme the name of God nor could they technically ‘repent’ within the context of this verse if they had not previously known God.

5   And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.  12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.   Rev 9:1

5th Trumpet/vial Comments:

The similarity of this trumpet and vial is the universal ‘darkness over the kingdom’ compounded by intense localised pain being experienced in addition.
The vial, once more is singled out as being in connection solely with the beast. It is the followers of the beast that expressly ‘blaspheme the God of heaven’ giving us the clue to who did the same in the fourth and seventh vial.

Note: The ‘Dragon’, Satan is expressly involved with the beast during this period, i.e. Satan is leading the beast’s empire once the ‘deadly wound’ had been administered with the subsequent ‘resurrection’ of the beast (Rev 13 2-6). The mention of a different chief demon being responsible for the activity concerning this trumpet is an indication of a separate set of circumstances to what the beast is primarily occupied with.

6   And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.  16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. 18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. 19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. 20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.   Rev 9:13

6th Trump/vial Comments:
When you need help to resolve a biblical issue, God always provides the answer somewhere in the bible. This pair of scriptures contains a satisfying resolution for all the questions.
Both trumpet and vial concern the common denominator of the ‘Euphrates River’ being a frontline crossing point. In the trumpet we see the 200–million-strong-army from Asia (from the North and East of Jerusalem Dan 11:44, and the ‘other side of the Euphrates River’). These (of the trumpet) specifically are not the followers of the beast or God (nor Muslims) since they worship ‘devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk’. From the description of what they worship these people are confirmed as Asiatic religions: Buddhist’s, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Shinto and Confucianism etc or complete atheists as in Communism. On the other hand the vial is directly speaking of the followers of the beast. This section of scripture dovetails with Daniel 11: 44,45
These two groups are the only viable world powers left in existence (Europe and Asia) after the many years of tribulations of the day of the Lord. The battle they are about to engage in will see the destruction of one third of all remaining mankind. They are drawn towards the Middle East for the final battle that will, in their minds, determine who will rule the world. Christ will intervene in the next trumpet/vial, otherwise no ‘flesh would be left (alive)’. Satan is the instigator wanting mankind to wipe himself out completely.

Note: The second woe is when the Two Witness are killed and resurrected. At the time they are resurrected, on hearing God’s voice, many see straight through the disguise of the beast and realise he is not God (Rev 11:13 last half). His cover is blown. This now requires a special delegation of high-powered demons to work the war-weary and now disillusioned people up for another go. The Asians are equally weary and need the same degree of ‘urging’ to carry on.
All of this series of events can only happen once and by default at the same time. The trumpets and vials are linked together hard and fast on this occasion.

7   And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, 17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. 18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.  19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.   
Rev 11:15

7th Trump/vial Comments:

In the trumpet, the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of the Lord. In the vial, those that blaspheme God, the followers of the beast, are singled out. The ‘It is done’ signifies the end of activity, Armageddon having been mentioned as the next event in the preceding vial demonstrates this is the end. A notable earthquake accompanied by great hail afflicts everyone and also both heard ‘great voices from heaven’.
This is a common ending to both series of trumpets and vials.

Note: The Two Witnesses died just prior to the onset of the seventh trump/vial. The nature and language of these last plagues show they are actions taken directly by Christ and the angelic realm as Christ descends back to earth with the Saints. The Two Witnesses were not needed for the finale.
They have already been resurrected ‘Come up hither’ Rev 11:10, so they are not excluded. This is mentioned to show the consistency of the concept that it could well be the Two Witnesses that are orchestrating events (in tandem with angelic help).

At this point all those that still actively oppose Christ will be destroyed having been given the benefit of seven years of warning.
The Kingdoms of the world are now Christ’s from this point forward. He shall reign forever more.
The ‘reward’, the positions within the kingdom the Saints have earned (when they were on earth by their ‘works’) are given to them. The final fulfillment of the new covenant in Heb 8 is brought into existence. The resurrected twelve disciples are kings over the nations of Israel and Judah.
The millennium begins.

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.    Heb 8:11
