Understanding the End Time is not easy:

Why Did God Make It So Complicated?

Two answers will be given. In turn they demonstrate why we need to understand this subject.

How well do we understand the detail of Christ’s second coming? Most would agree that it is not much better than those who were there at His first coming. The bible states that most of the world will not recognize this event for what it is. The bible states they follow the wrong person despite the endless warnings not to be deceived and instructions to ‘watch out’.

The differences of opinion on this subject range as far and wide as you care to look. Why is it so difficult?

If the mainstream Church in Jerusalem two thousand years ago had fully understood Christ’s first coming, subsequent events would have been very different. Christ would not have been sacrificed and we would remain ‘dead in our sins’. Obviously God has a plan, in hindsight the bible is clear that Christ had to go through being rejected, dying, becoming the very first resurrected being and setting the stage for the future of mankind. That plan was determined from ‘before the foundation of the world’ 1 Peter 1:20.
This was made clear to the disciples shortly after Christ’s resurrection.

Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:  26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?  27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.   Luke 24:25

Clearly, without some substantial research on our part the same mistakes could and will be made the second time, making the Church of this time potentially as foolish in missing all that the prophets have spoken to us concerning Christ’s second coming.

The early disciples and Christians came to realize afterwards that the scriptures had been overflowing with detail of Christ’s first coming. There is even more detail on His second coming.

In answering this question: ‘Why has God made it so difficult’ to understand His second coming – this aspect of not understanding Christ’s first coming – to protect and ensure the outcome equally applies.

We have two main reasons for the complicated nature of this subject:

1. The Plan Needs  ‘Protection’ for its Successful Outcome
The detail of Christ’s first coming had to be complex enough that it would not undermine the plan of God unfolding. In exactly the same way Christ’s second coming is part of the same overall plan that is to keep unfolding. In order for this to occur many aspects of the end time need to remain in the shadows until the relevant time. With two thousand years of scholarship and especially the introduction of the computer God needed to go to great lengths to ‘protect’ to ‘make complicated’ the detail of His second coming.
When asked why He spoke in parables, Christ answered ‘so that they don’t understand. But to you it is given to understand’.

How can we know that we do understand it correctly? On the one hand God has put a degree of difficulty on the subject, on the other hand He has given us a means of knowing when we have it right.

2. A Guarantee Is Needed Demonstrating The Correct Application Has Been Found

As an analogy, if we take a typical set of wooden blocks that children use to build toy houses, the simple rectangular shapes allow for any amount of variation that can still end up looking something like a house.

Simple shapes allow for infinite variation. (Which is precisely what has happened scripturally. If you fancy ‘this’ or ‘that’ style of house,  ‘build it as you please’ use the same pieces in multiple ways). On the other hand, a very complex set of shapes will fit together in one possible configuration only

The 'Complex Shapes' of the End Time

Unfortunately the simplistic method of determining End Time scripture is by far the most common one. The complexity of all the scriptures demands much study. It is far easier to knock all the edges and protrusions off the building blocks and make them into simple shapes. That then gives you the freedom to rebuild any design you like.
By comparison complex shapes may appear jumbled at first glance. The degree of uncertainty when reading of beasts with many horns and vast armies in the hundreds of millions produces a negative response from the start. In the end though, this complexity is by far the greatest blessing God could have given us.
Complex shapes by their very nature will only fit together one way. Our ‘Habakkuk messenger’ demonstrates that. What looks ‘too complicated’ at first glance, with a little sorting out starts to take shape, then as the pieces fit a clear picture emerges and then it is obvious that this is the correct and only possible way it can go together.

When complex scriptures are placed with each other and a perfect fit occurs and a clear picture starts to emerge then we have the proverbial ‘cast iron guarantee’ that the end result is absolutely correct. We can ‘see’ that it is correct.

End Time Scripture is 'loaded' with detail

Scripture concerning the return of Christ is exactly the same. The verses are often multi faceted and loaded with detail. That detail is not there without reason. It gives us building blocks that require very precise fitting with other verses. Sometimes we read straight past the signposts.
This requirement to faithfully use every ‘jot and tittle’ of scripture was the foundation that necessitated the development of our Bible End Time Toolkit checklist.
